This ring is a high quality, high maintenance jewelry piece. This black coating is black rhodium plating on gold filled. All rings that are considered black gold will wear off in certain areas in a month to a few years depending how you take care of it and how much you wear it. This is true for all black gold rings regardless of what it's made of or how much it costs, this process is inevitable. As this process happens the metal under the black plating will start to show through making your ring look exquisite and vintage. It is important that you are aware of this prior to purchase. If you do not want the vintage look then you may opt to have the ring re-plated at least once a year in order to maintain the black gold look you see now. The best way to keep your ring looking it's best is to ALWAYS keep it dry and away from chemicals and lotions. Do not wear this ring 24/7. These are rings that you put on and take off when you wash dishes, swim, shower and even sleep. Follow these directions and it will prolong the black rhodium from fading so fast. Clean when needed with mildly sudsy water, do not scrub, brush or use anything abrasive for this can scratch the finish. Rinse well and pat dry with a non-scratching cloth. Polish gently with a jewelry polishing cloth. It is very important that you pass this information on if this ring is to be a gift. Your ring will come with care instructions on the back of my business card.
